U4GM Picks the Best FC 27 Cards for Pace and Control

A month into FC 27 Ultimate Team, quick players who can keep the ball close are getting plenty of attention. That doesn't mean you need a squad full of expensive promo cards, though. If you're trying to stretch your FC 27 Coins, this seven-player core gives you speed out wide, a creative midfield option and enough recovery pace at the back to make a 4-2-1-3 work. Every base card here is rated below 90. Better still, you can add them gradually rather than replacing your whole team at once. Start with the positions that cause you the most trouble, then fill in the gaps as your budget allows.

Pick Your First Upgrades

1. Add Khusanov for recovery speed against quick strikers.

2. Pick Diomande if your right side needs an outlet.

Those two are a sensible starting point. Neither needs to carry the whole side, but both can make a difference in situations you'll see every match.

What the Cards Bring

Here's the useful bit before you start shopping. The ratings don't tell the whole story, so look at what each player actually does with and without the ball.

Player Overall Key strength
Khusanov 82 88 Pace
Diomande 84 93 Pace
Debinha 87 89 Dribbling
Chawinga 89 91 Pace

Make the Wings Count

Diomande is the obvious runner on the right. His 93 Pace and 87 Dribbling make him a real nuisance when a defender leaves space outside. Quick Step+, Rapid and Technical suit that job, while four-star skills and a four-star weak foot give you options once you're through. His 77 Shooting is less convincing, mind. Get to the byline and look for a cutback instead of forcing every chance yourself. On the opposite side, Chawinga is a more complete forward. The 89-rated base card combines 91 Pace with 83 Shooting, 86 Dribbling and 84 Physical. She can hold off a challenge and still finish the move. There's a 90-rated Team of the Week version too, but the base card should do plenty if coins are tight.

Keep Your Creators Close

Debinha and Rose Lavelle give the attack a different feel. Debinha's 87-rated card has 85 Pace, 85 Passing and 89 Dribbling, plus five-star skills and a five-star weak foot. She's great in a crowded central area, where a quick turn can open a passing lane. Just don't expect her to win many headers: she's 155 centimetres tall with 57 Physical. Lavelle fits naturally as the number ten, with 85 Pace, 84 Passing and 87 Dribbling. She's left-footed, too, which can make passes towards the right wing feel more natural. Both share league links with Chawinga, while Debinha also shares her Kansas City club. Their upgraded cards cost more, so check what the base versions can do before spending extra.

Give the Defence Simple Jobs

Batlle and Khusanov offer the sort of pace you'll notice when possession turns over. Martinez is an option in goal, although he isn't essential if your current keeper already makes the saves you need.

Batlle's 87-rated right-back card has 88 Pace, 82 Defending and 80 Passing. Let her support Diomande when there's room, but don't send her forward every time. Khusanov, rated 82, brings 88 Pace, 83 Defending and 80 Physical at centre-back. His 64 Passing is the catch, so keep the first ball simple rather than attempting a long switch under pressure. Martinez is listed at 85 with 85 Reflexes and Positioning. His Far Reach PlayStyle+ can help against shots from distance, and his distribution gives you a way to start attacks quickly.

Finish the Squad Without Overspending

1. Choose holding midfielders with strong Interceptions and Stamina.

2. Use club or league links to support Khusanov and Diomande.

A Manchester City or Premier League link helps Khusanov, while a Real Madrid or La Liga teammate can help Diomande. Keep an eye on the planned November update, too: changes to full-back positioning and attacking runs could alter how the formation feels. If you decide to buy FC27 Coins, leave room in the budget for those chemistry pieces rather than spending everything on one upgraded forward. Base Chawinga and Debinha remain useful places to start.
